ECSE Resources

If you are a family currently enrolled in Minneapolis EI/ ECSE, your team will also help you connect with resources, but this is a list of common resources our families find helpful. Please contact your team if you have questions about resources. 

MPS Resources

Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening is a process that supports children being ready for kindergarten. The program helps find children with possible health or developmental concerns that may impact learning. The process includes a check of vision and hearing, child development and a review of the child's health. The program helps families access services for their children that will help them to be ready for kindergarten. 

Minneapolis Student Placement

Minneapolis Public Schools offers schools and programs designed to meet the needs of all students. Our programs are designed to give students a strong education regardless of their learning style or background. 

Special Education Advisory Council

The Minneapolis Public Schools Special Education Advisory Council, SEAC (pronounced "seek") is a partnership between the school disctrict and parents/ guardians of Minneapolis students with disabilities. The SEAC is comprised of a majority of parents/ guardians and key Special Ed Department staff. 

Community Education

Minneapolis Community Education promises to devlier high-quality learning and enrichment opportunities so that together we can imporve our lives and our communities. 

Early Childhood Family Education

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for all Minneosta families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten  entrance. ECFE's goal is to enhance the ability of all parents and other family members to provide the best possible environment for their child's learning and growth. 

High Five

High Five is a half-day or full-day preschool program for Minneapolis children who turn four by September 1st and who will start kindergarten the following fall.

Transition to Kindergarten

The transition to Kindergarten is not a one-time event, happening on the first day of school. It begins well before your child enters school and continues during the first year. 

Minneapolis Kids

Minneapolis Kids provides high-quality school-age child care for families. They offer a safe, nurturing, educational and recreational experience where children are encouraged to pursue interests and develop friendships, independence and confidence. 

Teen Parent Services

Teen Parent Services (TPS) supports all pregnant and parent students enrolled in Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and their children with a variety of programming.

Minneapolis Parks & Rec

The Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board exists to provide places and recreation opportunities for all people to gather, celebrate, contemplate, and engage in activities that promote health, well-being, community and the environment. 

Minneapolis Public Libraries

[Our] mission is to nourish minds, transform lives and build community together. [We] envision a Hennepin County where library services ensure every person has the opportunity and resources to read, graduate, engage, work and learn. 

PICA Headstart

Parents in Community Action, Inc. (PICA) is a private, non-profit agency designated by the federal government to operate Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Hennepin County, Minnesota. 

Help Me Grow 

Help Me Grow has many resources about the development of young children for parents and professionals. 

Autism Navigator 

Autism Navigator is a unique collection of web-based tools and courses that use extensive video footage to bridge the gap between science and community practice. It increases the healthcare and early intervention providers, educators, and families to improve outcomes of young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). 

Autism Speaks 

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.
